For the past five years, the vanguard of European innovation has been spearheaded by Neelie Kroes. As EU Commissioner for the Digital Agenda, she was responsible for advancing entrepreneurship across the continent; now she’s coming to TNW Conference in Amsterdam to share her vision for the future.
Neelie has often made headlines for her forward-thinking and outspoken attitude towards European buearacracy. Last year she was “outraged” by Belgium’s decision to fine anyone using Uber’s UberPOP service – referring to politician Brigitte Grouwels as Belgium’s “anti-mobility minister” in the process. She’s also made significant progress in the abolition of mobile roaming charges for EU citizens.
Neelie’s new role is as the Netherlands Special Envoy for startups, focused on strengthening the international position of startups in the Netherlands and persuading foreign companies to set up a base in the country. Her position also makes her responsible for Startup Delta, an initiative to bring government bodies, knowledge institutes, startups, financiers and businesses together with startup hubs in the Netherlands and beyond.
We’re excited about the insight and expertise that Neelie can bring to our 10th anniversary event in the heart of Amsterdam, and are currently in talks to ensure that the Startup Delta team also has a visible presence at the conference, in order to benefit our Boost startups and beyond.
