NARR8, an app for reading and creating animated comics and interactive ebooks, has launched on the iPhone.
Update: The app is now available for download, though some NARR8 series are listed as coming soon.
The original iPad version, which arrived last November, of course makes for a better viewing experience, but having the option to read on the iPhone is a natural step as the NARR8 platform matures. The app is also available for Android tablets and smartphones, including the Kindle Fire.
Ebook titles in the NARR8 store are sorted into several categories, such as motion comics, interactive novels non-fiction and kids series, and they can be purchased via virtual currency. The company’s apps have been downloaded over 800,000 times across all platforms.
Founder Alexander Vashchenko has a background in game design and development, having worked at Russian gaming giant Astrum Online, which merged with Mail.ru in 2009. Narr8 has raised $4 million from Igor Matsanyuk’s IMI.VC.
