Motorola is supercharging its Moto Maker Web service — which lets users customize and color their $199 Moto X smartphone — with support for migrating contact and calendar data from iCloud over to a new device, via Google.
That could be a pretty big draw for many iPhone users who are entrenched in the Apple ecosystem because their data lives there.
Punit Soni, the Motorola executive who announced the update, says “There is a long way to go, but it’s a start…” which suggests that the Google-owned company has further plans to build up its appeal to Apple customers who may be considering a change of scene.
