Not long after we reported Samsung had released the source code for its Captivate handset, Motorola has muscled in on the action and mades its Droid X source code available, just a couple of weeks after its launch.

Whilst enterprising hackers have already rooted the Droid X, custom ROM’s are still a little way off from find their way to the device. According to Phandroid, the code is missing a few segments that will prove useful to the ROM and rooting Android fraternity so we might not expect to see too much from the release but you can never say never when Android developers are involved.
