MobileMe Gallery joins Find My iPhone as a free service

MobileMe Gallery joins Find My iPhone as a free service

We’ve heard rumors for the past few days that the Find My iPhone service might very well become free to non-subscribers. As one of the most compelling features of Apple’s $99 per year MobileMe suite, it was a welcome change. It appears, however, that Apple has rolled out the MobileMe Gallery as a free feature now, as well.

If you’re not familiar, MobileMe is a suite of Apple services that keeps the following in sync between your desktop and mobile devices. It took over the Mac.com domain a bit ago, and offers the me.com email address, as well.

The addition of Gallery to the free services is handy, for sure. With the growing number of people choosing to use their iPhone as a near-primary source for photos, being able to synchronize those photos to your other Apple devices is handy, especially when it’s free.

The 💜 of EU tech

Want to give it a shot? You’ll need to head over to load it up on your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad. Once you do, you should see a screen similar to the one on the left. As you can see, there are options to install the Find my iPhone service as well as the Gallery service. Both of these are listed outside of the section that shows a requirement for a paid MobileMe account.

Our thanks goes to iClarified for the find.
