Minecraft is coming to the Wii U next week

Minecraft is coming to the Wii U next week

Nintendo revealed today that Minecraft will be available for the Wii U from December 17 in North America and Europe.

Priced at $29.99, it will feature off-TV play for the GamePad, meaning it can be played on the controller as well as on the TV screen. It also comes with a host of pre-loaded content, including a festive mash-up pack. Nintendo says there will be a further 16 add-ons available to buy separately in the eShop, like Star Wars-theme skin packs.

Minecraft is already available on almost every gaming platform out there so its absence on Nintendo was pretty glaring. However, it has been so hotly-anticipated for such a long time, this could turn out to be a case of too little too late. We already know that it’s set to launch on HoloLens and the Oculus Rift in the near future.

Nintendo has also said it’s partnered up with Minecraft’s publishers at Mojang to create exclusive new content, which we can expect to be hearing about soon.
