Microsoft’s monthly Games with Gold promotion has arrived on Xbox One

Microsoft’s monthly Games with Gold promotion has arrived on Xbox One

Microsoft today launched its Games with Gold promotion for the Xbox One, offering Max: The Curse of Brotherhood and Halo: Spartan Assault for free to Xbox Live Gold members. Deals with Gold is also live with a 50 percent discount for Crimson Dragon.

Games with Gold on Xbox One has a big difference from the Xbox 360 version, though. If you let your Xbox Live membership lapse on Xbox One, you’ll lose access to the free games until you sign back up.

Xbox 360 owners will enjoy an extra title this month as Microsoft marks the one-year anniversary of the program. Dark Souls is available now until June 15, while Charlie Murder and Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition will be free for members from June 16 to June 30.

Later this month, Microsoft will relax the requirements of its Xbox Live subscription, as announced last month. Previously, the premium membership was required to use entertainment apps, such as Netflix and Skype, on the Xbox One and Xbox 360. The Xbox One is also scheduled to get external hard drive support and deeper SmartGlass integration in this month’s software update.
