Microsoft’s BUILD 2012 developer conference kicks off October 30, 1 week after Windows 8 goes on sale

The full details of Microsoft’s BUILD developer conference have finally been announced for 2012.

The annual event will run from October 30 – November 2 at Microsoft Campus in Redmond, Washington. And it’s no coincidence that the conference is taking place the week after Windows 8 goes on sale on October 26.

Indeed, Windows 8 will be a big focal point of BUILD this year, though the software giant notes that Windows Azure, Windows Phone 8, Windows Server 2012, Visual Studio 2012 and more will be on the agenda. To help whet developers’ appetites, Tim O’Brien General Manager, Developer & Platform Evangelism, Microsoft says:

“This will be unlike anything we’ve held on our corporate campus in a long time. More details to come :). And, as we talked about in the January post, if you’ve gone to a Microsoft developer event, you know that most of the speakers and participants are from our engineering teams, so a campus event puts you in the thick of things along with the engineers directly responsible for our products and the platform opportunities they represent. This one’s not to be missed.”

Getting into the ‘Windows 8’ theme of things, registrations for the event will open at 8am (Pacific time) on August 8, and to register your interest, you can do so here. “At that point, we’ll start sharing details over time about keynoters, sessions, content and more, but for the time being, set a reminder for Aug. 8”, adds O’Brien.
