At its press event today, Microsoft has unveiled its latest Lumia flagship phones, the Lumia 950. The phone will be available in two sizes – 5.2-inch and the 5.7-inch 950 XL model.
Both devices come equipped with 3 GB of RAM, 32 GB of storage, USB-C, Qi wireless charging and microSD card support. The Lumia 950 runs on an Octa-core processor and 950 XL on a Hexa-core.
The 20 megapixel PureView camera features triple LED flash, the selfie cam is 5 MP, and of course, both models will run on a full version of Windows 10.
With Windows 10, the phones arrive with Cortana, Office, Skype and Continuum. You can use Microsoft Hello to unlock the phone with facial recognition technology.
Using a Microsoft Display Dock, you can use the USB-C connection to transfer the display from your Lumia to a computer monitor, allowing you to use the phone like a PC.
Once connected, there’s a task bar at the bottom of the screen to multitask and switch between apps. You can still use the Lumia as a regular phone while connected to the desktop Continuum mode.
On the entertainment end, the Lumia phones are also connected via HDMI and can play 4K videos.
The Lumia 950 devices start at $549 and will be available in November.
A lower-end model, the Lumia 550, will be available for $139 with a 5-inch screen, 5 megapixel rear camera with LED flash, 2 megapixel selfie cam, 8GB of storage and 1GB of RAM. It’ll also sport a 1905 mAh battery pack.
