We’ve just received an invite from Microsoft to an event on May 21st where it will show off the next version of its Xbox console and media box. The next version of the company’s media play has been expected for a while, especially as Sony unveiled most of its PlayStation 4 at an event a few weeks ago.
The next Xbox, which is code-named Durango, has been heavily rumored to include a large focus on entertainment and television content as well as games. A new, far more sensitive Kinect sensor has also been rumored for the event.
Microsoft’s Larry Hryb also posted about the new event, saying that the event will “mark the beginning of a new generation of games, TV and entertainment.”
A press event will be held on the Xbox campus and there will be a livestream available on Xbox.com, Xbox LIVE and broadcast on Spike TV in US and Canada.
“On that day,” adds Hyrb, “we’ll share our vision for Xbox, and give you a real taste of the future. Then, 19-days later at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los Angeles, we’ll continue the conversation and showcase our full lineup of blockbuster games. We are thrilled to pull back the curtain and reveal what we’ve been working on.”
We’ll be at the event, bringing you all of the news about the thing you’ll be playing for the next 5 years or so.
