Microsoft has just started sending out invites to a launch event for a Surface product, expected to be the second iteration of its Surface tablets for 23 September in New York City.
The Redmond-based company is expected to unveil its Surface 2 and Surface Pro 2 tablets at the event, despite the first generation not faring so well with consumers. Indeed, just a few months ago, Microsoft had to take a $900 million write-down due to Surface RT inventory issues.
However, with the company having acquired Nokia’s mobile business, this could provide another potential route for its tablet ambitions.
