HoloLens development is hitting its stride today, as Microsoft is introducing a massive cache of videos for developers and announcing an emulator.
The emulator will let developers build apps for HoloLens without a developer kit, and Microsoft is encouraging developers to familiarize themselves with Unity 3D. Visual Studio is also encouraged; while Microsoft isn’t saying it’s a requirement for HoloLens development, it’s a safe bet it will be.
The video series walks you from the absolute basics (like ‘what is a hologram?’) down to the finer points (spatial mapping and sound). There are 12 videos total, but look for Microsoft to expand on that platform.
HoloLens developer kits will start shipping March 30, which is curious timing. Microsoft’s annual developer conference, Build, is March 30-April 1.
