Microsoft Office hits the SkyDrive. Cloud-based Office on the go.

Microsoft Office hits the SkyDrive. Cloud-based Office on the go.

For some of us, we’ve been playing with and using a version of Microsoft Office through Facebook Docs for a few weeks.  For the rest of the world, you’ve had to wait.  Until now, that is.

According to the Windows Team Blog, Office has now come to the cloud via SkyDrive.  Users in the US, UK, Canada and Ireland can jump over to Office.live.com and start editing right away.  For the rest of the world, you’ll have to follow another link.

So what can you do?

  • Upload docs
  • Edit in browser
  • Document collaboration
  • Read via smartphone

The Office team promises much more, as well, but warns that the new Hotmail updates are still a few days off in the future.  For now, it’s Office made much more attainable, so go give it a spin.
