Microsoft CFO Peter Klein out at end of fiscal 2013, replacement coming from inside company within weeks

Microsoft CFO Peter Klein out at end of fiscal 2013, replacement coming from inside company within weeks

In its announcement of earnings for fiscal Q3, 2013, Microsoft noted that CFO Peter Klein would be out of his position by the end of this fiscal year. Klein has been in the CFO role for four years and with the company for 11 years.

Microsoft says that it will be naming Klein’s replacement from among its finance leadership team at some point in the next few weeks.

“It has been a pleasure to work with Peter as CFO,” said Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer. “He’s been a key member of my leadership team and a strategic advisor to me, and I wish him the very best.”

Klein was diplomatic in the release as well. “I’ve had a great experience as CFO and overall in my time at Microsoft,” he said. “We have an incredibly strong finance organization, and I’m looking forward to working with my successor on the transition through the end of the fiscal year.”

Divisionally, the traditional loser remains…traditional. Microsoft’s Online Services division lost 262M last quarter. which is at least less than the year-ago quarter, when it lost $480M. Despite strong revenue, Microsoft had a bunch of special provisions that adjusted the Windows division revenues down to flat.
