Microsoft has teamed up with National Geographic to bring NatGeo’s Global Action Atlas to Bing Maps.

Global Action Atlas is a crowd-sourcing project whereby NatGeo is enabling Internet users to learn, share and contribute towards a variety of global efforts. With Bing Maps, you can know about efforts in your area of interest and then you can head over to GAA’s website to make a donation or participate as a volunteer. Screenshot:

The various efforts are categorized as:

  • Conservation
  • Humanitarian
  • Cultures
  • Exploration
  • Climate Change
  • Energy

You can access the Global Action Atlas apps from the Map Apps menu at the bottom of the left sidebar.
