Lyft wants to give you free rides when Budweiser gets you drunk

Ride-sharing service Lyft has struck up an interesting partnership with Budweiser that will see the former give you free rides when the latter gets you drunk.

From September 16 through the end of the year, the two companies will be offering free rides to drunk people as part of a new initiative to prevent DUI accidents.

The deal will be exclusive to New York state, Colorado, Illinois and Florida and will be available on weekends between 10pm and 8am.

To earn a free ride, you’ll have to claim one of the redeemable coupon codes that Lyft and Budweiser will be sharing via their Facebook and Twitter accounts every week.

Each coupon entitles you to a free lift up to $10, but you can only claim one per weekend. Budweiser is expected to provide around 80,000 free rides in total.

Once you find a code, you’ll be redirected to a site where you can claim it; the funds will then be automatically transferred straight to your Lyft account.

“By giving passengers access to 5,000 free rides each week, we hope everyone will think twice before getting behind the wheel after drinking and look to us as a solution,” said Lyft’s Oliver Hsiang.

Drunk drivers are not the only ones getting free lifts. Not too long ago, Lyft made headlines when it cunningly stole Kardashian-connected supermodel Kendall Jenner from Uber by offering her free rides.
