Third party developers have been asking for an API for LinkedIn‘s Groups feature for some times and finally today it’s arrived.
As a launch demo for what it can do, LinkedIn is showcasing Microsoft’s Worldwide Partner Conference 2011 site. Through the API, attendees can share comments about event sessions and activities for others in real-time, and use LinkedIn to stay in touch after the event with no extra effort.”
The API allows developers to pull in Group Discussions by Popularity and Recency; display users’ Group memberships and suggested Groups; allow users to join Groups;, post Group discussions and comment on, ‘like’ and follow discussions.
If you’re an avid LinkedIn user, it looks like there could be some even more useful third-party apps coming your way just as soon as the developers get to grips with their new-found powers.
