Leica shows off Jony Ive-designed special edition camera for charity

Leica is offering a detailed look at the special edition camera that Apple designer Jony Ive created for an upcoming (RED) charity auction with Sotheby’s. Ive and fellow designer Marc Newson spent 85 days building 561 models and 1,000 prototypes to create the device, which makes ample use of Ive’s preferred machined aluminum look.

The camera will be sold at an auction on November 23rd, with the proceeds going to The Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. Other auction items include a customized Steinway Grand Piano, a 2012 Rangerover and rose gold Apple EarPods.
