What happens when you cross Star Wars with Lego? It’s possible to experience a momentary lapse of sanity, but totally in a good way.
So get ready for more now that Lego has unleashed 32 new sets of Star Wars vehicles and characters at this year’s Toy Fair, based on the movies and various TV shows and video game spinoffs.
The collections offer a vast variety, featuring characters and vehicles from the classic ‘Star Wars,’ the new ‘Star Wars Rebels’ animated series and the upcoming seventh film, ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens,’ due out at the end of this year.
Who cares if the force isn’t with you? There’s almost no way not to get pumped about the new line, including some truly monumental specimens. There are smaller sets too, featuring droids and inventive microfighters alongside a new range of constructible figures.
Here’s a peek at what will soon become available for fans and hobbyists.
TIE Fighter
Collectors can now look forward to an intricate set of bricks with the new Lego rendition of the classic imperial starfighter featured in numerous Star Wars battle scenes — including the one that led to the destruction of the first Death Star. Measuring 18.5 inches (47cm) high x 12 inches (30.6cm) long x 12.2 inches (31cm) wide, it has 1,685 pieces. TIE Fighter features an opening top hatch and includes a TIE Fighter Pilot minifigure with blaster pistol, complete with a display stand and fact plaque. It will be available in May for $199.99.
Slave I
Bounty hunters, this humongous 1,996-piece Slave 1 — measuring over 7 inches (20cm) high x 17 inches (45cm) long x 14 inches (37cm) wide in landing mode — features a rotating cockpit and wings for flight and landing mode, and dual shooters and hidden blasters for repelling attackers. It includes four minifigures with weapons: Boba Fett, Bespin Guard, Stormtrooper and Han Solo (in carbonite). Weapons include a special blaster pistol for Boba Fett and Bespin Guard and a blaster rifle for the Stormtrooper. It’s available now for $199.99.

Six new Lego sets are derived from the Disney XD series, ‘Star Wars Rebels.’ Five of those are available now, while one launches in June. These include the Imperial Troop Transport ($12.99), Ezra’s Speeder Bike ($19.99); the TIE Advanced Prototype ($39.99), the Twin-legged AT-DPTM ($49.99), and the Wookiee Gunship ($69.99), featuring movable front and top cannons, folding wings and two Wookiee minifigures.
Derived from The Clone Wars Battles and available now are the Senate Commando Troopers set ($12.99), the Geonosis Troopers set ($12.99) and Anakin’s Custom Jedi Starfighter ($39.99).
For The Force Unleashed, fans can now protect the Empire with Shadow Guards ($12.99) by using their deadly lightsabers, or call in the Shadow Stormtroopers for backup.
At least a dozen new bricksets cover classic Star Wars action relating to ‘Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace,’ ‘Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones,’ ‘Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith,’ ‘Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope,’ ‘Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back,’ ‘Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi.’
Lego has also unveiled the company’s first Star Wars constraction sets featuring Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker, while additional constraction figures will be revealed throughout the year. These will be available in September for $19.99.
What about new bricks for the upcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens? Nothing has been revealed yet, but the company says it’s not far, far away.
