First Lebanese app hits Nokia Ovi Store

First Lebanese app hits Nokia Ovi Store

foo-meFoo-Me is the first Lebanese app to hit the Nokia Ovi Store – heck, it’s the first Lebanese app to hit any mobile app store!

Though the interface is not at its best to say the least, it provides what the Lebanese have been missing out on for a while.

Operator specific
The app provides support for web to SMS and credit transfer options for both operators in Lebanon, MTC Touch and Alfa.

Weather
Includes Lebanese weather for 5 cities featuring the highest and lowest temperatures over 5 days.

Movie listings
The app offers a comprehensive guide to Lebanese theaters supporting search via movie title or theater. Movie details is also quite detailed and includes the movie poster, genre, actors, director, duration, rating, plot, and, of course, the theaters and timings where the movie is available.

Foo-Me-eventsEvents
Foo-Me includes a daily calendar of local events sorted by category. Categories include theater & cinema, outdoor, music, culture and more. Events are also quite detailed including reservation details, if and when applicable.

Chat
The app includes a proprietary chat platform allowing users to chat and leave offline messaging – identifying users by their unique local phone number.

Other features
The app also includes horoscopes, financial tools and a Sudoku game – all quite popular in Lebanon.

While the app can desperately need a face-lift, it’s better than nothing and a great initiative for an app deprived market. For device compatibility, check out their website.
