The startup competition PulsoStartup10 announced today the list of 20 Latin American startups that will compete for a chance to fly to NYC and pitch their project to investors.
As we reported, PS10 is organized by the Latin America-focused tech news website Pulso Social, which was responsible for shortlisting 20 companies among the 121 applications it received.
Here are the semi-finalists, many of which will sound familiar to our readers:
- Arcaris (Chile) which gamifies call centers (see our previous story);
- Aivo-Agentbot (Argentina), a virtual customer service;
- Babelverse (Chile) which provides real-time on-demand interpretation, powered by a global community of human interpreters. It has recently won the third place in LeWeb’s Startup Competition;
- Backpacker (Brazil), which helps retail employees learn English;
- Dafiti (Brazil), an online fashion platform backed by the VC firm Rocket Internet;
- Clerk (Chile), a management tool for independent hotels;
- Everwrite (Brazil) which helps publishers adapt their content to user demand and recently won RBS Prize for Entrepreneurship and Innovation;
- Fanwards (Argentina) which helps brands build loyalty on social networks through rewards for their fans. Accelerated in Argentina by NXTP Labs, it has been selected to participate in Start-Up Chile;
- Hadza (Chile) which focuses on online video;
- Helpin (Brazil) which helps users find the best service providers and is part of 21212’s first acceleration batch;
- ikiGaming (Mexico) which uses HTML5 and Javascript to create multi-platform games;
- Kidbox (Uruguay) which creates a safe browsing environment for kids. It is also the winner of Red Innova’s latest Startup Competition;
- LedFace (Brazil), a Q&A platform powered by crowdsourcing (see our review);
- Myband.is (Colombia) which lets bands create a webpage based on the content they already posted elsewhere;
- NuFlick (Mexico), a distribution platform for independent filmmakers. Born during Mexico City’s Startup Weekend, it is backed by the Silicon Valley seed fund Mexican.VC.
- OmbúShop (Argentina), a DIY online store platform;
- Prolancer (Brazil), a job market for freelancers;
- Shopperception (Argentina) which uses Kinect to track shoppers’ interactions at point of sale;
- Thotz (Colombia) which let organizations centralize and map their information;
- Tweegee (Brazil), a social media site for kids and pre-teens.
Over the next weeks, ten winners will be selected among these twenty startups, out of which the jury will pick one winner.
