Latest rumors claim Google’s Moto X will launch in August, on Verizon in the US and on Rogers in Canada

Latest rumors claim Google’s Moto X will launch in August, on Verizon in the US and on Rogers in Canada

There’s still no official date for when we can expect Google’s upcoming flagship smartphone, the Moto X, but given how quickly the leaks are coming, it appears that we’re getting close. In fact, the latest rumors claim we’ll see something new from the company’s $12.5 billion Motorola acquisition as soon as next month.

Earlier today, PhoneArena received what it believes is an internal Verizon memo snagged by one of its readers. The LG Exalt will arrive on July 25, the HTC One will show up on August 1, and finally the Motorola Moto X will launch on August 23.

Here’s the full alleged roadmap:

This past weekend, MobileSyrub also received an internal memo, but from Rogers. Apparently the carrier will have an exclusive on the Moto X in Canada, will offer it on its LTE Max network, and will launch it also in August.

Now, there’s no telling whether or not these dates are accurate, and the Moto X will very likely be launching on more than just two carriers, but it’s probably not a coincidence that August has come up twice and from completely different sources. Nevertheless, it’s important to remember these are just rumors: the device could be officially announced in August for all we know; after all, the last rumor claimed July 11 (today) was the day.

The only official details about the Moto X come from Motorola CEO Dennis Woodside, who said the device would be out before October, would have sensors to make it “contextually aware” (meaning it could adjust itself based on what you’re doing with it), and would be the first smartphone built in the US.
