Kevin Hart and Lionsgate announce ‘Laugh Out Loud’ – a comedy-only VOD service

Kevin Hart and Lionsgate announce ‘Laugh Out Loud’ – a comedy-only VOD service

Lionsgate announced today that it was about to get into the Kevin Hart business, at least partially. The successful comedian and the entertainment company announced they were partnering up to create a video-on-demand service just for comedy content.

The platform will play host to a variety of original and existing content — including an original show where Hart plays an undercover Lyft driver — but it won’t feature access to Hart’s live tours or archived performances.

“Lionsgate has always been a great partner of mine, and I’m more than excited to take our business and creative relationship to new levels,” Hart said in a statement. “I understand the direction in which the television business is headed, and I see this big new space toward which audiences are starting to gravitate. I believe that launching this venture together now puts us ahead of the pack.”

The project will be the third of its type for Lionsgate, who recently teamed up with San Diego Comic-Con to create ‘Comic-Con HQ’ — a channel described as “Netflix for Nerds” — and ‘Tribeca Shortlist,’ a streaming movie service with high-quality moves picked by industry professionals.

Pricing and further launch details aren’t available at this time.
