Kaleidoscope is a street style fashion app that lets you browse looks a la Pinterest and Fancy, but with a hyper-curated, shopping-focused twist. Of course, this is a crowded scene, but the real secret sauce here is Kaleidoscope’s API, which finds products that match the clothing in each and every photograph, so users can buy individual pieces or entire looks.
Up until now, Kaleidoscope was only available on mobile devices, but now the team is officially revealing a new desktop experience in your browser. As you can see here, this new release gives every look a link, making the entire service more sharable in a similar way to how Instagram photos are shared.
Obviously, we’ll have to wait and see how this impacts Kaleidoscope’s growth, but I can’t help but feel the startup has reached a sweet spot in the fashion space. To find out more, we asked the team what they feel changes with this new release:
We’ve found that our users are digitally savvy women who shop and share their favorite looks on more than one platform and now they can do this on more than one screen. We were already on smart phones and the iPad so the expansion to a desktop experience was a natural one. Now users can link to their favorite look and shop and share on a bigger screen. Not all ecommerce experiences are optimized for mobile and now shopping can be done on desktops as well. Our users shop everywhere and now so do we.
More about the app:
