KakaoTalk messaging app adds end-to-end encrypted Secret Chat mode

KakaoTalk messaging app adds end-to-end encrypted Secret Chat mode

KakaoTalk, the Korea-based messaging app, has introduced a new Secret Chat mode to allow encrypted conversations. The new type of chatroom uses end-to-end encryption on all messages exchanged via the app and stores the encryption key on your device.

Secret Chat mode is only available for one-to-one chats in the new update but KakaoTalk’s developers say a group mode will available early next year. The app update also includes a new Decline Invites feature for group chats which lets you turn down all future invites to chatrooms you don’t want to participate in.

The new features are available in an update to KakaoTalk’s Android app now with an update to the iOS version on the way.  If you’re looking for a way to talk anonymously, it’s also worth investigating OneOne, the secure messaging app, which launched on Android and iOS last month.
