Donate to Haiti through iTunes. Now.

redcrossitunesIn light of the devastating earthquake that happened in Haiti, The Red Cross has worked with Apple to allow you to directly donate.

Follow this link to launch iTunes and chose from one of the six donation amounts, $5, $10, $25, $50, $100 or $200. As of this writing this does not seem to work from an iPhone and iPod touch, so you have to go from your desktop.

Apple emphasizes that all of the donations will be forwarded to the American Red Cross, no handling fees, no bureaucracy is paid with your money:

100% of your donation will go to the American Red Cross […] Your donation of any size could help save the day by providing food, water, temporary shelter, medical services and emotional support to someone in need.

In the even that the American Red Cross reaches its target for the Haiti Earthquake Appeal, any excess donations will be applied to other American Red Cross efforts. Further information about the American Red Cross and its financial administration can be found at www.RedCross.org.

The service is available via the U.S., Canadian and most of the European iTunes stores.

With the situation in Haiti far away from being under control, the iTunes store is a reliable, trustworthy and easy way to help supporting the work of the many Red Cross helpers needed in Haiti.

If you have not yet done so, The Next Web encourages you to make a financial gift to the American Red Cross, which will provide immediate relief and long-term support through supplies, technical assistance and other support to help those in need in Haiti.
