It’s a kind of magic: Rovio reimagines Freddie Mercury as an Angry Birds character

Freddie For A Day is an annual initiative celebrated on September 5, Freddie Mercury’s birthday, to raise funds for the Mercury Phoenix Trust. What do you have to do to participate? Dress as Freddie Mercury – Queen’s iconic frontman, who died of an Aids-related illness in 1991.

As we approach September 5, Freddie For A Day has announced an interesting partnership with Angry Bird developers Rovio, which will see Freddie Mercury become an “honorary member of the Angry Birds family”.

“Freddie For A Day and Rovio Entertainment are proud to announce a unique and innovative partnership that sees the most iconic Rock’n’Roll frontman of all time, Freddie Mercury, become an honorary member of the Angry Birds family,” says the announcement today.

Rovio will be releasing a new animation of “Freddie the Angry Bird” riding his bicycle to the Queen track ‘Bicycle Race’. The video will be made available on Rovio’s YouTube channel from 1pm BST today.
