iPhone 7 vs Google Pixel: Google Assistant is better than Apple’s Siri

With Samsung’s Galaxy Note 7 out of race, the battle for best smartphone on the market is set to play out between the Google Pixel and the iPhone 7 – and one important aspect is how well Google Assistant fares against Apple’s Siri.

In his latest video, popular YouTuber Marques Brownlee squares off the two flagship devices against each other to find out which phone has the better voice assistant by asking them the same question at the same time.

While there was little difference in speed between the two virtual assistants, Siri was often a split second faster to answer. However, Google Assistant seemed to provide more accurate and detailed results – and also more relevant when taking into account previous searches.

Part of the reason for that is Google’s new and improved AI algorithm which, in addition to being more conversational, has also learned how to understand and factor in the context of the questions asked. In contrast, Siri tends to ignore context in some cases, merely pulling up results from Bing and other search engines.

Another area where Google Assistant has managed to really catch up with Siri is the ability to make jokes – something Apple’s AI has become quite famous for. In this test, however, it seemed Google had the better one-liners.
