iOS 8 is rolling out now for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch

Gadget aficionados, start your engines: Apple has started rolling out iOS 8 and you should be able to download it now or momentarily.

Like previous updates, iOS 8 is a free upgrade for iPhone, iPad and iPod owners. The following devices are eligible: iPhone 4s, iPhone 5, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5s, iPod touch (5th generation), iPad 2, iPad (third and fourth generation), iPad Air, iPad mini and iPad mini with Retina display.

To see if iOS 8 is available for your device, just open up the Settings app, followed by the General and Software Update options. Your device will then check to see if the latest version of Apple’s mobile OS is ready for download.

As always, if you’re not given the option just yet – hold tight. This is undoubtedly a gradual roll-out and it will likely be available shortly.
