Watch: Intrusive drone owner gets a scare after woman grabs a gun

A Washington drone owner nearly learned the hard way that using technology to intrude on the privacy of others is never a good idea.

From the drone’s on-board camera we see the operator hovering around a woman’s back porch and presumably watching her via FPV headset or secondary monitor. The video’s description reads: “We were flying our drone around, noticed our neighbor out on the deck, and started throwing things at the drone.”

After noticing the hovering drone, a woman chucks a couple rocks at it before rushing inside.

The drone, upon seeing its threat retreating, took up the same intrusive stance of hovering over the back porch near window height. As we look inside, we can see the woman at a kitchen counter before she hurries back out with a gun, and aims it squarely at the drone.

No shots were fired, and the video stops a bit short to see what happened next. But hopefully this offers a cautionary tale for anyone who thinks its a good idea to intrude on someone’s personal space with an expensive gadget.

According to the Federal Aviation Administration, it’s a federal crime to shoot down a drone.
