I like design almost as much as I like food. But when the two come together, I just have to write about it.
Instagram account @eatingpatterns has only been around for eight weeks, but already has a lot of beautiful pictures up. The project was started by Spanish textile designer @vegaloring, and in her own words, is focusing on ‘something between pattern design and cooking.’
The images she creates feature stunning patterns made up of various food products, ranging from strips of cucumber to chopped cherry tomatoes. Some of the creations feature seperate ingredients, whereas others show a complete meal. One thing always stays the same — everything you see on your screen is edible.
I love cooking, but I generally don’t set aside enough time to do it. The formula behind the account is reminiscent of BuzzFeed’s Tasty, the video channel showcasing how to make beautiful dishes with a seemingly small amount of effort — and that’s a draw for people with busy schedules.
What I like best about Eating Patterns is the amount of thought that goes into every image and the sense of design creating images that are wonderful to look at. Consider me a fan.
