Instagram designer Tim Van Damme headed to Dropbox

Instagram’s lead designer Tim Van Damme has announced that he’s leaving Facebook to join the Dropbox team.

Reports emerged yesterday that Van Damme was set to leave Instagram, and he has now confirmed that his last day is this Friday. He’ll start his new role at Dropbox in August.

Van Damme’s arrival will be a boon for Dropbox. The file syncing firm has largely been conservative with its look and could use a redesign.

In a separate departure, Gowalla co-founder Josh Williams has also left Facebook. After joining the company in an acqui-hire in late 2011, Williams served as Facebook’s product manager for Pages, Locations & Events.
