If you haven’t seen it yet, this is definitely worth a look: Instacane is very cool web collection of Instagram photos telling the story of Hurricane Irene.

The site was set up by Chris Ackermann, the Director of Emerging Platforms at New York Times R&D. He and his friend Peter Ng, also of NYTimes R&D put it together yesterday. Ackermann says they will be adding ways to visualize the timeline of photos over the course of the hurricane based on local areas. Not only is it highly entertaining, but it’s an amazing, visual public archive of the event and the people affected by it.

Many thanks to Brian Snyder for the tip!
