iloud_singingWith some top-quality music production apps available these days, iOS and Android devices have become ideal for musicians on the go. Unfortunately, portable speakers often don’t cut it when it comes to sharing your sounds. IK Multimedia hopes that it’s found the solution in the form of the iLoud, which ships from today.

The small (around the size of an iPad and six inches deep) battery-operated, 40W RMS Bluetooth speaker promises to be “2-to-3 times louder” than speakers of a comparable size and accurate reproduce the fine details of everything from dubstep, to rock, to classical music. It even operates as a guitar preamp, so you can record onto your smartphone or tablet wherever you are.

We’ll be putting a unit to the test ourselves soon, to find out if it lives up to its promise.
