Ideal Gifts: You definitely know someone in dire need of these velcro straps

Ideal Gifts: You definitely know someone in dire need of these velcro straps

In the Ideal Gifts series, The Next Web team shares personal recommendations for gifts to give this holiday season.

Throughout our ongoing gift guide, you’ve seen some pretty cool stuff. Anki cars, wireless headphones, a Roku — and it’ll get better as December moves on. My advice is exceedingly low-tech, but increasingly necessary: Velcro strips.

I know, I know — that sounds stupid, but stay with me.

We’re not totally wireless yet, and you (and your loved ones) probably have tons of cables going all over the place. I know I do.

In addition to having too many cables, they’re all varying lengths. It’s a nightmare for someone like me who likes to be organized and tidy.

The Velcro One-Wrap is $4.99 for 100 straps, which wrap onto themselves (one side is fuzzy, the other coarse). You can even keep them around cords when not in use, which is great for travel.

Each cord in my home (and my travel bag) has one of these straps. It’s the most low-tech addition to my high-tech lifestyle, and possibly the best. For a fiver, it’s worth getting a package or two (or more) for yourself, too.
