Reddit’s data visualization community /r/dataisbeautiful is one of the best subreddits going. Usually it’s fairly tame, but here’s an exception:
Redditor Noveltysin took a break after foreplay to record her heart rate during actual intercourse, using her Fitbit. She added notes to the graph below to indicate what was happening at each spike and dip in activity during the act. The whole process took 8 minutes 59 seconds.
Inevitably Reddit is being weird about a woman talking about her sex life.
First her post was threatened with deletion for not stating its source (“Removed because I must state source of data and tools? Source: Sample size of one, female human heart rate. Source: Tool: Fitbit Charge HR.”) then she had people questioning the length of her orgasms: “Man, now I gotta defend my orgasm to a bunch of strange dudes. Wait, no I don’t.”
So, in conclusion, interesting data coupled with utterly unsurprising idiocy from the usual brand of internet idiot.
Would/have you used a fitness tracker to monitor your own sex life?
