Hulu teams up with Lionsgate to release 10-episode supernatural comedy ‘Deadbeat’ in 2014

Hulu teams up with Lionsgate to release 10-episode supernatural comedy ‘Deadbeat’ in 2014

Hulu has commissioned a 10-episode supernatural comedy called Deadbeat from Lionsgate, with production beginning this fall.

Cody Heller and Brett Konner are the co-creators, having worked on other offbeat comedies such as Wilfred and The Inbetweeners, and will be available to Hulu users in 2014. Dakota Pictures and Plan B Entertainment, founded by Brad Pitt, Brad Grey, and Jennifer Aniston, will be producing.

According to Variety, the show will focus on a gifted (yet hopeless) male medium who helps ghosts in New York settle their affairs before passing over into the afterlife.

Following the success of Netflix’s exclusives such as House of Cards and Orange is the New Black, it’s perhaps not surprising to see other streaming services focus on original programming.
