HTC is set to unveil a new version of its One Android smartphone today, codenamed M8, but a new app listing has all but confirmed that a Google Play Edition is also in the works.
HTC Gallery, which is a new app the company is offering to help photographers find their shots based on where and when they were taken, appeared earlier in the Google Play store. Its accompanying app description currently reads:
“Now it’s fast and easy to find all the photos you need to. Support for HTC One(M8) Google Play Edition is limited to HTC Photo Edit.”
While HTC hasn’t confirmed the existence of such a handset – which is to be expected really, given it wants the focus to be on its Sense-flavored version today – a Google Play Edition HTC One makes sense. Its predecessor got the same treatment last year, although it was only offered to customers in the US.
