Hey, that’s my tweet! Lovely, an apartment hunting app, is posting digital notes around San Francisco

It’s not every day that a reporter emails you a picture like the following:

Hey, that’s me? I said that? Heh. Can’t delete that tweet I suppose.

Anyway, here’s what is going on: Lovely, an app that helps you find apartments [early TNW review can be found here], is using various tweets that discuss how hard it is to find a workable apartment in San Francisco to frame its discussion, and to promote its hashtag, #livelovely.

Lovely confirmed that the campaign is theirs, and when asked about it, recommended that I take part. Here’s their idea, from an email sent to TNW: “the goal of getting a conversation started on Twitter based on the idea that everyone knows apartment hunting in SF is absurd. We have a bunch of hilarious tweets favorited on our @Lovely account, so [we] picked the ones [we] thought were the funniest and then came up with questions based on them.” Thanks?

Here’s another, via Rachel Masters:

Interesting? Creepy? Lame? All I know is my tweet is out there. If it’s myself and Jeff thus far, I wonder who else is involved. As a very non-famous person, this is all slightly funny.

TNW scanned Twitter’s TOS, and while it seems that while Twitter reserves the right for itself and its partners to modify and publish tweets, other groups might not have that permission. To wit:

“Twitter respects the intellectual property rights of others and expects users of the Services to do the same. We will respond to notices of alleged copyright infringement that comply with applicable law and are properly provided to us. If you believe that your Content has been copied in a way that constitutes copyright infringement, please provide us with the following information…”

Even if this is completely against the rules, I don’t really care, but it will be interesting to see if Twitter gets mad at Lovely.

On a different level, Jeff Martens, a friend of mine, has a good point: “@ManyaS @thatdrew @alex I don’t even understand the “how far would you go” part.” Neither do I, really, unless Lovely is asking people to explain exactly what they would do to get a place. For me it was plunking down $4,000 to snag my studio. Security deposit, kiss my ass.
