How to delete your Uber account

How to delete your Uber account

If the past weekā€™s Uber allegations are enough to make you want to leave the service, you might have found that itā€™s not particularly easy to delete your account.

It turns out there arenā€™t any automated ways to close your Uber account, instead thereā€™s a manual process you have to follow. Follow these steps to close your account:

  1. Visit the Uber support site to create a request
  2. Fill in the email address associated with your account with the subject line ā€œClose my Uber accountā€
  3. In the description, ask for the company to close your account and make sure to give your name and mobile phone number thatā€™s associated with the account. Youā€™ll also need to select the home city youā€™re registered for Uber in.
  4. Hit send.
  5. Delete the Uber app from your phone.

Because this is a support request, you might need to wait a few days before your Uber account is finally closed for good. Weā€™d advise only doing this if youā€™re sure you donā€™t want to come back to the service, as it is irreversible.
