It’s been a long wait, but Google has finally updated Hangouts for Android with material design and a few useful features.
The update finally matches the app found on iOS and is much simpler to use, with a better contact picker, a new compose button and faster attachment sharing with the ability to add multiple images at one time.
It can also receive and reply to group MMS messages using Google Voice and you can finally set your custom status message again. Google also says that the app is a lot faster and should use less battery.
It’s also added Outbound Caller ID to the Hangouts dealer. The updates are rolling out on the Google Play Store right now.
