A report by Bloomberg today is saying that JPMorgan Chase was hit by hackers as part of a scheme that ran from 2012 to mid-2015. A company spokeswoman has confirmed the hack.
US officials told Bloomberg the hack was “the largest theft of consumer data from a US financial institution in history.”
The charges claim one of the hackers stole personal information from over 100 million customers. it does not specify what kind of information was stolen, however.
Four men have been accused, who have all been arrested. They also targeted a major financial news publication, and well as other banks and companies.
A press conference has been scheduled for later today to explain the charges.
