GroupMe is built right into the new Winter X Games 2012 mobile app

ESPN has just released its X Games app for iOS and Android (link available soon), which among other features, includes integration with GroupMe, the easiest way to create an instant SMS style chatroom across all phones — smart and dumb.

GroupMe was only recently acquired by Skype last August, and continues to grow as a messaging service for communication between friends, groups, event organizers, etc. Now, the GroupMe team says it’s excited about sports fans being able to watch the Winter X Games, share links to the livestream/highlights, and start group conversations with friends right from the same app.

Along with the GroupMe integration, the app has tons of new features worth checking out. This includes video highlights, live results, schedules and athlete bios/history. Here’s more details:

  • iPad version: bigger screen, harder-hitting Winter X Games action!
  • WatchESPN integration: watch the telecast LIVE on your device!
  • Personalized schedules: set reminders for your favorite events
  • Live streaming X Cast with Facebook and Twitter interactivity
  • Weather feature for fans and spectators in Aspen, Colo.
