Edward Snowden, the NSA contractor-turned-whistleblower who has been disclosing top secret information about government snooping to media outlets for the past six months, will be holding an official Q&A this coming Thursday, January 23, at 3PM EST (8pm GMT).

The news comes just a day after it was revealed that Snowden will be standing for student rector at the University of Glasgow, Scotland. This will be Snowden’s first proper Q&A since last June, and he will be answering queries on freesnowden.is, a support site run by The Courage Foundation.

The session will run for an hour, with questions submitted by the public via Twitter using the #AskSnowden hashtag. His answers will appear later at freesnowden.is/asksnowden. Though it’s being billed as a “Live Q&A”, it’s not clear whether Snowden will be answering the questions in real-time via Twitter too.
