Google simplifies Trusted Stores registration for merchants

Google simplifies Trusted Stores registration for merchants

Google has announced today that it is simplifying the process for merchants to apply to its Trusted Stores certification program.

Interested stores can sign up by providing details about their business and adding two snippets of code to their site to get started. They will no longer need to submit shipment and cancellations feeds, and can now specify a custom position for the Trusted Stores badge on their sites and display it on HTTPS pages.

Google says it has been running its Trusted Stores program in the UK, Germany, France, Australia and Japan for a few months, and that hundreds of merchants including Newegg, Vistaprint, Wayfair and TigerDirect have already qualified for the program in these countries.

The Trusted Stores program, which was announced back in 2011, helps shoppers make informed decisions about which merchants to buy from online based on the quality of the experience they offer.

Customers also receive free purchase protection from Google for orders up to $1,000 in value at certified stores.

Purchase protection comes in the form of a free opt-in when you make a purchase at a Google Certified Shop. In the event of an unresolved issue with the store, customers can reach out to Google via a feedback email to initiate a refund or replacement for their order.

In order to qualify as a Google Certified Shop, merchants must meet Google’s standards for delivery, shipping and service. All Google Certified Shop badges display stores’ report cards outlining their performance on these metrics.
