Google now lets you authorize logins to your account with a single tap

Two-factor authentication is a great way to keep your online accounts secure, but between hunting for your phone and manually typing in the auto-generated passcode, it can be quite a pain.

Google’s hoping to fix that with a simpler security prompt option. The next time you try logging into Gmail or Google Apps, you only need to tap ‘Yes, allow sign-in’ to authorize it. No more fidgety digits to key in before the clock runs out.

The new feature is rolling out gradually to all Android and iOS users. If you’re using an Apple device, you’ll need the Google Search app installed. Oh, and you’ll need a data connection for it to work, which means it may not be the best option for every scenario.

To enable it, head over to Google’s My Account section and choose Google prompt under Sign-in & Security > Signing in to Google > 2-Step Verification.
