Google Maps now shows live transit departure times in NYC and Salt Lake City, adds service alerts in DC

Continuing its investment in users that rely on city transit to get around, Google has updated Maps with live transit alerts and departure times in NYC, DC and Salt Lake City.

In New York, Google Maps users will now be able to view live departure times for seven subway lines. Google previously added transit stops in NYC and other major cities last year, but did not allow full schedule viewing.

In Salt Lake City, similar support has been added for riders of buses and trams. As for DC, Google has added the ability to view live service alerts, “including unplanned delays and scheduled track work.”
