Google introduces new aesthetic options for Google+ badges

Social media badges are a great way to promote profiles and pages on sites like Facebook, Twitter, and Google+, and today Google introduced new options for its Google+ badge to improve integration with pages it’s on. With this update, badges can now be customized to blend in better with dark backgrounds, and a custom width can be set. The badges can also include the +1 button and the count of how many circles your page is in. These new options are available now to those in the developer preview, and will be open to all users soon.

Google explains the many ways to share and connect that the Google+ badge makes possible:

When you add the badge visitors to your website can discover your Google+ page and connect in a variety of ways: they can follow your Google+ page, +1 your site, share your site with their circles, see which of their friends have +1’d your site, and click through to visit your Google+ page.

According to Google, the badge has led to an average of 38% more followers on top sites that use it. For more on Google+, head to the Google channel on TNW.
