Google Authenticator, the 2-factor authentication app that Google pulled from Apple’s App Store earlier this week after version 2.0 launched with a bug that removed any accounts that users already had set up, has today returned.
The release notes for version 2.0.1 note that it “Restores entries that were not displayed due to a bug in version 2.0.” So, existing users and new ones alike can now download the app, which offers a more ‘Google 2013’ interface and support for Retina displays and iPad screen sizes, bug fixes and improved accessibility features.
It’s worth noting that the app will duplicate any entries created in the previous (now removed) version. So, if you did add new accounts this week, it’s best to delete or rename them to avoid confusion — thanks @failgunner.
