Google today announced Google Apps Vault has gained targeted legal holds, which lets customers not just hold a user’s entire mailbox, but also target the specific information they need to preserve for a legal hold based on any searchable criteria, including sent date, labels, content, or search terms. The point is to allow Vault customers to preserve fewer emails and focus on the more relevant messages, hopefully reducing the costs and risks associated with managing and reviewing data.
For those who don’t know, Google Apps Vault helps protect businesses, schools, and governments by enabling them to quickly find and preserve email messages that may be relevant to litigation, thereby reducing investigation costs. Vault also helps organizations manage and preserve business-critical information for continuity, compliance, and regulatory purposes. It can be purchased in conjunction with Apps, and will set you back $5 per user per month.
